Furniture tests Testing

When introducing any piece of furniture to the market, you are probably wondering about its safety. Will the structure fall over? How much load will the shelf withstand? How many times will it be possible to open the cupboard door before the hinges fail?

We test chairs around the clock

One of the tests provided for office chairs is the swivel mechanism test. This mechanism must be able to withstand 120,000 rotation cycles. The test takes about 8 days, with the machine constantly working. During this time, the mechanism must not seize, twist, break or show any other signs of deterioration.

Will the table bear it?

10 cycles of 10 seconds, applying force to the points most susceptible to damage - in this way tables and desks are subjected to strength tests. That’s how we check for cracks, fractures and other mechanical damages. Will your table meet the requirements of the standards?

How much will the hinge tire?

Furniture hinges must withstand many years of use, therefore the standards for furniture with doors provide for rigorous fatigue tests. The loaded door opens and closes 6 times per minute. The entire study lasts up to 2 weeks without interruption. The hinges must not break or break out during this time.

24/7 testing

In our laboratory, we test furniture around the clock. Machines run non-stop, making tens of thousands of cycles a day. All this is aimed at checking the furniture against the requirements of the standards. Many manufacturers provide us with their products for testing in order to stand out from the competition. Market expectations are ever higher and customers require accredited test results and certificates. We meet these expectations.

Perhaps you are also interested in checking your products? If so, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our experts will explain to you any doubts regarding the testing process, costs and duration of the tests. Our hardware resources allow us to perform tests according to many furniture standards, so you can be sure we will take good care of your furniture as well!

Check what we test:

Educational furniture

Swinging a chair, shuffling and many years of use of countertops - school furniture must be resistant to such fatigue. For this reason, the standards for educational furniture have very strict requirements. At INT, we conduct tests in which we check the properties of school furniture. The test report is necessary for the certification process. Due to the fact that educational institutions are obliged to purchase products with certificates, furniture manufacturers should be seriously interested in tests.

We examine, among others:

  • School desks,
  • School chairs,
  • Teachers' desks,
  • Cloakrooms,
  • Whiteboards,
  • Storage furniture (showcases, cabinets, etc.).

Non-residential furniture

We have contact with furniture everywhere, not only at home and in the office. When sitting in a restaurant or sleeping in hotels, we use furniture that is used intensively daily. For this reason, they should meet the stringent requirements of the standards intended for them. Non-residential furniture manufacturers must subject their furniture to testing.

We examine, among others:

  • Hotel furniture (beds, wardrobes, armchairs, etc.)
  • Furniture for restaurants and cafes (tables, chairs)
  • Furniture for cinemas (row seats, etc.)
  • Hospital furniture (beds, chairs, cabinets, etc.)
  • Furniture for cloakrooms (cloakrooms, benches, etc.)
  • Furniture for the judiciary (benches, desks, etc.)
  • Furniture for the waiting room (chairs, row seats, etc.)
  • Library furniture (shelves, desks, chairs, etc.)
  • Church furniture (benches, pulpits, showcases, etc.)
  • Furniture intended for police stations
  • Prison furniture
  • Many other

Office furniture

On average, we spend 6 to 8 hours a day sitting at work in the office. This has a huge impact on our health and well-being. Therefore, standards are provided for office furniture, the requirements of which are mainly focused on ergonomics and work comfort. In the INT laboratory, we will check your product for compliance with these requirements.

We examine, among others:

  • Desks
  • Tablets
  • Screens
  • Chairs
  • Armchairs
  • Conference furniture
  • Storage furniture (cabinets, display cabinets, etc.)

Children furniture

The health and safety of children is of the utmost importance. For this reason, the standards for children's furniture introduce very restrictive requirements. The correct dimensions must be kept, the substances used must not be flammable and the content of chemical elements must be within the normal range. At INT, we test children's furniture intended for domestic use as well as for kindergartens and nurseries. Therefore, we invite manufacturers of this type of furniture to cooperate.

We examine, among others:

  • Cribs
  • Cradles
  • Playpens
  • Changing tables
  • Barriers
  • Cabinets
  • Kindergarden furniture (beds, etc.)
  • Nursery furniture

Domestic furniture

When buying domestic furniture, we pay particular attention to its appearance and comfort of use. However, wear-resistance and safety are equally important. After all, we do not want the bookcase to fall over on us, or the chair to collapse after being used several times. Standards for furniture for domestic use include, among others, tests of durability and stability, which should be of interest to manufacturers of this type of product.

We examine, among others:

  • Uphostered furniture (couches, armchairs, sectional sofas, etc.)
  • Beds (single, double, bunk-beds, etc.)
  • Kitchen furniture (cupboards, fitted kitchen units, etc.)
  • Dining room furniture (tables, chairs, display cases, etc.)
  • Storage furniture (wardrobes, chest of drawers, shelves, etc.)

Others

Due to the rapidly changing furniture market, many innovative solutions are created that are often difficult to classify clearly. At INT, we test various types of furniture, including atypical ones. Together with you, we will try to select the appropriate test standards for a specific product.

Other furniture we examine:

  • Camping furniture
  • Laboratory furniture
  • Employees lockers
  • Work tables
